KRA Showcases 1,000+ Developers On Gavaconnect
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) hosted the second edition of its API Masterclass, spotlighting over 1,000 developers on its GavaConnect Enterprise API platform in a move that underscores its commitment to co-creating simplified service solutions with the tech community as part of its broader digital transformation agenda.
KRA now becomes the first public sector institution in Kenya to develop a platform enabling businesses and private sector players to seamlessly integrate with its systems.
GavaConnect currently offers 16 APIs including PIN and Tax Compliance Certificate checkers, NIL Return filing, and e-Slip verification, designed to enhance tax compliance, improve efficiency, and elevate taxpayer experience.
“Today marks a great opportunity for us at KRA to open up to the wider tech community,” said Annastacia Githuba, Deputy Commissioner for Program Delivery & Client Engagement. “This is not just about tax collection — it’s about empowering developers to build, innovate, and monetize solutions that make compliance simpler, faster, and more accessible.”
The Masterclass provided hands-on training, API demonstrations, and collaborative feedback sessions, allowing developers to share experiences and suggest future features. Whether onboarding for the first time or building advanced taxpayer solutions, attendees engaged directly with KRA’s API vision.
Looking ahead, KRA says it plans to expand GavaConnect to support initiatives like the electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) and enhanced VAT compliance tools. These integrations aim to further simplify compliance and reporting for businesses.
“The API Masterclass series cements our partnership with Kenya’s tech community, as we co-design the future of tax administration,” added Githuba.
