This is Digital has announced its plans to launch an AI Literacy Program aimed at equipping professionals, entrepreneurs, students, and educators with practical and ethical AI knowledge. The program will be launched on 5th August, according to This Is Digital.

The organization made this announcement during its appreciation breakfast event themed ‘The Age of AI: A Reality Check’, at The Social House in Nairobi. The breakfast convenedd an intimate group of thought leaders, innovators, and professionals to reflect on how artificial intelligence is reshaping lives, industries, and societies across Africa.

Attendees experienced a rich program featuring keynote speaker Moses Kemibaro from Dotsavvy, and contributions from notable voices such as Susan Makau (International School of Advertising), Hon Ndindi Nyoro, MP Kiharu Constituency and Roseline Njogu, Principal Secretary, State Department for Diaspora affairs.

The event further featured Eugene Mbugua, the Founder at D&R Studios, unpacking entertainment and AI; Caroline Kendi, the Founder at CK Marketing, who unpacked Marketing and AI; Dr Catherine Gathu, the Head of Family Medicine at Aga Khan University who talked about Medicine and AI; and Philip Muigai, the Digital Learning Developer at Cloud Factory, unpacking HR and AI.

Following the breakfast event, This is Digital released the program for its AI Literacy Program. The program will include an Online AI Bootcamp slated for August 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. There will also be an in-person AI Bootcamp scheduled for August 27th to 29th.

With Kenya ranked 6th in Africa for AI readiness, acccording to 2024 Oxford Insights AI Readiness Index. The country is well-positioned for initiatives like this, which empower communities to not only adopt but shape the AI-driven future.
