Three men arrested in connection with their brother’s murder

Three men have been arrested in Homa Bay in connection with the murder of their brother.
The men aged 29, 32, and 40 years were arrested at Nyabuombe village, Kobila Sub-location, in Rachuonyo North Sub-County. Police say the three murdered their brother, George Otieno.
One of the suspects reported to police that they had found Otieno lying unconscious by a road, 400 metres from home. The deceased had injuries to the head, hands, and legs.
Police claim the brother collaborated with his other brother and took Otieno to Kendu Bay Sub-County Hospital, where he died on arrival.
Detective investigating the murder said Otieno’s body has serious wounds on his head, hands, and legs. But no blood stains were found at the scene of the crime.
The police went to the house of Otieno’s mother and found bloodstained weapons, including two wooden clubs, an axe, a slasher, and a wooden rod they suspected was used in the murder.
A police report indicates that the wall of the kitchen had blood stains, which seemed to have been cleaned before the refuse was discarded in a nearby maize plantation.
Rachuonyo North Sub-County Police Commander Stephen Tanui said the findings on the ground contradicted the report Otieno’s siblings filed earlier regarding the death.
“The man is dead, but there is a serious contradiction between what his brothers reported to us earlier and what our investigators have discovered on the ground.”
Tanui said they arrested the three brothers and detained them at Kendu Bay Police Station as the investigation into the death continues. He said the contradiction implied that the three are aware of what killed their brother.
“We are going to take them to court on Monday to request permission to continue detaining them to help us conduct further investigations,” Tanui said.
Otieno’s body was moved to Kendu Adventist Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem.
