Key African Dignitaries Grace The Second Day Of CAS2025

Hon. William Kabogo, the Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of Information Communication and Digital Economy (Centre) at the Diamonds Leaisure Beach and Golf Resort for the 14th annual Connected Africa Summit.

The second day of the Connected Africa Summit saw the attendance of key ICT Ministers and top dignitaries from different African countries.

The dignitaries that were in attendance include: H.E. Mohamed Maulud Mohamed Fadel, Minister Counsellor to SADR’s Presidency in Charge of Economic and Financial Affairs, Sahrawi; H.E. Mudane Jaamac Xasan Khalif Rep by State Minister Hon Ahmed Osman Diiriye, Somalia; H.E. Hon. Joyce Ssebugwawo, Minister of State for Information, Communications, Technology, and National Guidance, Uganda; Linda Aipinge-Nakale, Director for ICT Development within the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) in Namibia; H.E Gentiana Serbu, the Romanian Ambassador to Kenya; among others.

Hon. William Kabogo, the Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of Information Communication and Digital Economy (MICDE), officially launched the event, and welcomed the visiting dignitaries to Kenya. In his address, Kabogo expressed his pride in seeing Kenya host all these key decision makers from across the continent and beyond.

“I am esteemed to be welcoming all these leaders from Africa and beyond to hold conversations around scaling technology in our continent. On behalf of H.E William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya, and the good people of Kenya, allow me to say ‘Karibu Kenya’. This summit provides an opportunity for collaborations within Africa to further grow our continent and leverage on technology in doing so,” Hon. Kabogo said.

Lily Ng’ok, the Chair of the Board of Directors at ICTA, also gave her remarks at the second day of the summit.

“From all walks of life, we gather today to ignite the spark of collective potential and promise that Africa holds. The significant moment marks where our shared dreams and ambitions become the pathways to our future. A future that we will design and build together. In line with this year’s theme, ‘The digital journey: Visual to Reality’, we are committed to transforming the potential into tangible growth that transcends traditional connectivity, fostering a robust digital economy that benefits all of us,” Hon. Ng’ok noted in her address.

ICT Authority (ICTA) CEO, Stanley Kamanguya, encouraged the event attendees to take advantage of this summit and create transformative collaborations that will grow the continent’s ICT sector.

“This convergence of minds forms an exceptional platform for delving into cutting-edge technologies, facilitating robust discussions on emerging opportunities, as well as fostering invaluable networking opportunities. These deliberations, enriched by diverse perspectives and expertise, will provide invaluable insights and strategic journey towards a united digital Africa,” Kamanguya said.

Reiterating the ICTA CEO’s sentiments, Eng. John Tanui, the Principal Secretary, State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, spoke of the different projects that the Ministry has successfully rolled out as a result of collaboration  in the ICT Sector.

“We’ve just finished connectivity to the border of Kenya and are now having conversations with World Bank to extend from the border of Kenya to Juba and we look forward to going to Central African Republic and all the way to Cameroon and connecting to the other side. We are at the border of Uganda and there is also conversations on extension. We have also had conversations towards the north, towards Ethiopia and then aim for Djibouti,” PS Tanui said in his remarks.
